Electrical & Electronic Engineering

The School of Electrical and Electronic Engineering is among the largest in the country and offers one of the most comprehensive teaching and research programs available.

The School of Electrical & Electronic Engineering was formed in March 2002 from the Departments of Electrical Engineering (est. 1950), Electronic Engineering (est. 1969), and Radiowave Engineering (est. 1992), and has strived for international research competitiveness in all areas of electrical/electronic and radiowave engineering and diversity in engineering education.

Our School's Institute of BioMed-IT, Energy-IT, and Smart-IT Technology (BEST) is funded by the Brain Korea 21 plus Program sponsored by the Ministry of Education and has become an internationally recognized research institute with global research capacity and a lot of internationally renowned research results. In addition, we are focusing on educating outstanding engineers to grow as global leaders through an ABEEK accredited academic program.

As a result, as of 2016, 57 faculty members, as well as numerous researchers and staff, are involved in educating and in research with 1,397 undergraduate and 720 graduate students under a clear educational goal. Also, more than 9,200 alumni are active in domestic and international institutes in various areas. We are now widening our research area by grafting information technology to other fields such as medicine, finance, energy, nanotechnology, etc., to strengthen our position as a leader in information technology research by collaborations with diverse institutions such as academia, research laboratories, and industry. In addition to leading in engineering and technology, we further strive to educate leading engineers based on Christian spirit according to the founding principles of Yonsei University, to guide graduating students to become upstanding engineering leaders of the world.
