The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Yonsei University has a rich history of leading the Korean society in materials research for the last half century and is at the wake of providing a new global materials paradigm for future scientists and engineers.
The Department fosters an environment of academic growth and establishes a curriculum that will provide future generation of responsible leaders. 30 faculty members and 280 graduate students study the latest in cutting edge materials technology covering information technology (IT), nano technology (NT), bio technology (BT), clean technology (CT), energy technology (ET), space technology (SPT), and structural technology (SCT).
Our undergraduate program takes a systematic approach in providing fundamental principles in physics, chemistry, and materials science and developing creative thought through intellectual curiosity.

Since its establishment, the results of our continuous efforts and the excellence of our past and present alumni have allowed our Department to be selected as one of the Brain Korea 21 programs for academic excellence, direct funding supported by the government.
